“Dingoes over dogs “. Do they make good pets ?

October 4, 2017 by Crossroads Dingo Rescue   No comments   Filed Under: Dingo Diary

There is some interest and concern regarding the channel nine news segment , “Dingoes over dogs “.
Do they make good pets ?
It is my opinion this attitude may well further endanger our dingo, the content of this information is very misleading, very irresponsible, certainly at its best it creates a false image ,at its worse it ensures the dingo is just a dog leaving him open for abuse .
Unsuspecting people will purchase or attempt to re home a dingo expecting dog like behaviour
a high fence is not knowledge enough to coexist with a dingo .
A dangerous situation can occur due to ignorance , basing an opinion on a dingo being a good pet is foolhardy , reducing the necessity for education and much required research .
The mind set of convincing people the dingo makes a good pet in a effort to have the dingo accepted is ridiculous.
He is a wild animal with thousands of years of primitive hardwired survival skills, high prey drive ,no nonsense doesnt suffer fools, refusal to obey ,.
you can co exist , but respect and understanding is foremost , never take for granted your relationship , it’s apt to change in a second,
never get over confident, never take for granted, always supervise, never demand always request , aggression begets aggression.
Perhaps those who have dropped dingoes here might explain the reasons for why ,
can’t contain
Can’t control
Killed my cat
Is attempting to kill my dog
Has bitten or can’t trust with kids
Thousands of damage done to house .
Refuses to come on re call , and on and on it goes .
Why .?….because they are not pets ,can not be owned , are not dogs .
Dingoes do not have behaviour problems people have problems with dingo behavior ,
do your research , and not for one minute think dingoes make good pets .
They can be a great companion with understanding patience and knowledge, never forget they are wild .
