Today was and remains a mongrel ,

November 16, 2017 by Crossroads Dingo Rescue   No comments   Filed Under: Dingo Diary, pilbara

Today was and remains a mongrel , started with a recently acquired short bill corella young girl talks and just making friends with odie one of my birds
I had to go to stock feed short trip , one of my rare social outings , vet doctor or stock feed
I return home to find this new addition has flown the coop, litterally, feeling bad because she had been entrusted to me and a much loved family had her , however due to circumstances she came here , I promised faithfully she would be safe , I understood her wing was cut and I believed her cage safe ,obviously not so to both counts .
I started calling her and was pleased to hear her answering, I go and try to find where she is , oh yeah she is out the front in one of the high conifers , I drag her cage around and start talking ,
she wants to come down .
Not going to happen can’t find a ladder to reach her so I decide in my old age wisdom to climb this bloody tree , reach up grab a branch all good , it creaks a bit , I pull myself up and stand on the fence , not close enough so I unsteadily step on the not so strong branch and go up higher ( I hate heights )
Slowly I climb up talking to this bloody bird, telling her she’s a good girl, not dareing to look down , I don’t care if it’s I meter or 10 bloody meters it’s high from where I am
She actually decides to meet me half way , she’s now close enough to grab , yeah right need to think very carefully and I didn’t, I grab this bird, she grabs my finger between the first and second joint , deep breath , don’t for God sake let go I use this as a mantra , don’t let go don’t let go , while she now is through to the bone can actually feel the bone creak ,I start to climb down with this thing on my finger , the pain is making me sweat , the last 2 meter , I can do this , she let’s go , whew that hurt , before I could finish that thought she has my bloody arm omg , do I want to ring her neck , bite down hard endure, I managed to get her off my arm, tried to use my shirt to cover her , and she’s got that damn finger again, by now I figure I’m going to loose this finger .
I jump the last 2 meters , still got the bird , the bird still has my finger , again I manage to free my hand , blood covering her and me , attempt to put her in the cage , I swear she got that frigging finger again , now the pain has hit a new high, I keep fighting to get her back she keeps ripping my finger , ya know what enough… I let go she let’s go and she has gone again .

She’s out there answeres when I call, but can only do what you can do , 2 hours and a very swollen finger pieces missing , can’t bend it . Big sigh . Maybe tomorrow

So it thought the day couldn’t get any worse , Pindan bouncing all over the house , Nowra having her own party jumping in and out of her crate ,
Burra bitching Mirrhi and arana squabbling, jedda in a bitch mood ,.

Screaming in the pens , ffs what now , I mean screaming , Brahmani is screeching Jack’s growling pilbara is attempting to pull the bloody pen apart , omg , I race out down the security, shit I think , it’s a snake she has a snake in her pen , I run in Brahmani is frothing she’s so hyped up she’s spitting chips , that bloody goanna managed to get in her pen , she is going to kill this thing no matter what , no I scream come away , not likely,
I grab her collar , foolish don’t grab collars , she grabs me , she’s so wild she says don’t touch me i m going to kill this thing , I’m yelling at her to leave it , no way , she bites my hand , I grab her bed and throw it over the Bob tail , I’m abusing this thing , how many times do i have to rescue you bloody critters .the damn thing is giving Brahmani a run for her money, certainly holding her off
My Finger and now hand is killing me , bonnie trying to wrangle this bloody bob tail ( blue tongue )
i manage to pushed him / her through the fence with a stick Brahmani is swearing at me jack is glaring at me .
I go back out side , now I’m fighting with this reptile , I have to again move him or her or is it even the same one? , bonnie on one side the dingoes watching, all alert hoping I might slip up , big sigh I managed to pick it up gave it a hug , took it back away from pens, put it back way over in the paddock .
Now I’m very energetic adrenaline running high , I decide rake , clean pens settle the dingoes .
Pilbara has a bad nose again swollen and red , he won’t let me near it , he it’s on antibiotics ,but I have to bite the bullet and fight with him to sort it , he keeps fighting with karulundi and damages his nose , I go into his pen, tell him we have to come to an agreement , I turn and he swipes a bite from my butt .
Sweet mother , Pilbara ,I yell what the hell , nup he comes back for another go , this time I’m ready , I move he keeps going then I go and sit on his bed tell him to settle , he calms down we are still friends , figure I’m going to have to sedate him some how to get him to a vet.
Hmm now that will be real interesting
So that so far is my day , not over yet , i can hear that damn bird , finger arm hand and butt is sore aching stinging , not to mention recently rebuilt shoulder , think I’m to bloody old for this crap
