Crossroads Dingo Rescue

March 17, 2020 by Crossroads Dingo Rescue   No comments   Filed Under: Dingo Diary

We have no doubt the difficult time all are enduring due to this panic buying and associated fear of coronaviris
However we are having a great deal of difficulty with feeding and caring for the 20 dingoes in our care.
the inability to find and purchase brown rice, pasta and pedigree dog food
The cost of raw ,( roo, horse ),and vegetables.
with limited finance we now fear for their immediate future.

We were fortunate and grateful for the chicken frames we recently recieved due to the generousity of BOY AND BEAR pet food company , however we attempt to give these kids a variety of foods to sustain them .
not included is the burden of ongoing vet care and associated costs ( still outstanding accounts require payment )
Our wild Rudal river kids require sterilisation ,and final vaccinations.
Bunjil has ear issue ( again )

Re Bonnie , we have not posted on her progress or lack there of , in truth what can we say ?
Money is required to remove the sarcoma ( is it benign or malignant ? we do not know .

Regardless we still need to invest in a wheelchair ( due to her lethargi and added pressure on her remaining leg )and with what ? we keep her comfortable .
She is on antibiotics

However we seldom ask for help, it is only due to the generousity of a few that we manage, albeit barely .

No we are not a registered charity .
We are a registered rescue .
The work here is not done by workers or volunteers .
I do the work , we ( my husband works ) pay for the required financial needs .
The animals are here due to the recklessness and carelessness of human error and all would be land fill if not here .

Why are we not a registered organisation charity recipient?
We can ill afford the angst of politics, in house power struggles ( so rife within many )
We are not a dog rescue we are a dingo ( native dog ) rescue ,with this comes added responsibility, dingoes are not dogs therefore require specialist care. knowledge, commitment, patience, understanding .
Many( dingoes )based on their natural instincts, fear, timidness, (fear aggression,) refusal to accept
Overall dingo behaviour
Many people as is required within such organisation could, may and might succeed at overriding knowledge, common sense and time required to calm a bereaved, unsettled preabused animal.
more care and knowledge required for our wild dingo.
Difference of opinion would
Without doubt create mayhem within .

Being a registered rescue makes us no less legitimate than a registered ( charity receptive) organisation.
Indeed it is more difficult due to us doing the hard yards, personally financing the care of unwanted dingoes
we do not walk around in uniforms, we do not have landscaped yards nor prestigious play areas and pens .( unprofessional we are told )
professionalism is not in presentation it is our humanity, getting our hands dirty and raw emotions at an all time high with overly anxious damaged dingoes . Personally caring for the needs these animals ( Our apex predator bred with out concern to appease the selfish needs of many .)

Supply for the demand and demand for the supply of exotic animals

We have not participated in or contributed to the predicament of unwanted dingoes.
We do actively, financially, emotionally assist in their return to health, mentally physically and emotionally

So it is with a degree of humility that we ask if you can assist, please do .

On that note I mention now the two dingoes I visited no less than 3 weeks ago ( we were asked to assist, unfortunately due to our circumstances we were unable )
Both said to be 5 years old
The bitch had given birth and her pups were 9 days old ( 3 pups )
A beautiful and endearing couple , but the bitch required vet care, she was not 5 but in her 6th to 7th year having birthed every year from the time she was a year old ( I had previously met her older pups )
the male ( sire ) was much younger and indeed not the original partner( I am assured) in fact perhaps very closely related to the bitch( my assessment) based on her aggression towards him with her pups .
Point being, no one takes into consideration the unnessessary suffering of back yard ( domestic breeding ) the result and or indeed the out come .
Dingoes bred to close relatives ( including their own siblings and parents,( off spring ) bred every year, and to what cause ?
To preserve to conserve? I doubt it when there is no thought to the fact the dingo would not breed in to or with his own kin , nor with mixed varieties seperated by geographic differences .

Until a degree of common sense and integrity is found, or the law brings in a permit system, dingoes will continue to be exploited and commercialized.
Dingoes will continue to be over bred in bred , euthanized, dumped, badly treated, and abused .
