Crossroads Dingo Rescue

March 20, 2019 by Crossroads Dingo Rescue   No comments   Filed Under: Dingo Diary

It has been a tumultuous couple of months , highly emotional
With the arrival of more dingoes ( one dumped with out concern for the dingo or for the situation we are in and the difficulty of housing) the promise of assistance not forthcoming.

The out come of my own stupidity resulting in a badly bitten hand resulting in surgery and 4 day hospital stay

The difficulty with warren having to take time off work creating further financial stress
And the difficulty with me now managing all the dingoes here with one hand .

Our Bonnie being diagnosed with bone cancer resulting in the amputation of her back leg and the now complications with the need for seperation for her protection and from the curiosity and possible harrassment of the dingoes living in close proximity with her

Added to the every day goings on, i feel the angst of people who come here seeking information advice and education on living with a dingo .

Never have I or do I refuse to assist in the possible every day difficulties for some to co exist with an animal they have chosen to reside with .
My view is to make life less complicated for the dingo as a result of human ignorance , by giving the information, i believe assists people to understand the nature of our dingo, thereby hopefully resolving anxiety anger and undue stress to both the dingo and his or her guardian
Reducing also the possibility of physical abuse based on that inability to understand

However , i can not help but feel my passion for the dingo and my concern for his safety is being grossly taken for granted , with little thought given to my time given, resulting in the time take from doing never ending chores and much needed ongoing interaction with the dingoes here .

I do not begrudge assisting . i do not hesitate to give my time , but i do resent being used , I do resent being taken for granted , I do resent that my time has no value , and in many situations is not appreciated .

A more irritating situation is when those who come here seeking assistance , inform me of their intent to purchase or have purchased a dingo from over East .
Pray then why are you here ?

4 weeks ago a person arrived who requested information on living with a dingo
I am informed he is expecting the arrival of a dingo from over East ( dingo den ) i had misunderstood and believed the dingo was being imported from the other dingo rescue being Sydney dingo rescue .
Makes little difference both send dingoes over to the West .
Claiming screening is done people are assessed . sadly both are wrong .
I can make that statement due to the calls i recieve and the information recieved of the appauling condition some of these dingoes endue due to what i believe is a quick fix to relocate a dingo
Not all are happily relocated . hense my refusal to send dingoes to destinations unknown.

I also find it is a repugnant attitude by all concerned . we have dingoes here requiring rehome . we have many in desperate situations
And yet little concern is given by those with out Integrity to add to the numbers reducing the chance of many here to have that chance .
Worse still some are assisted by groups over here to burden the need of dingoes in need

I spent over 3.5 hours discussing dingo behaviour traits and characteristics.
And was appauled by the information this person was purchasing a dingo ( wild born ) having no previous education .
I am blunt and to the point . i am insulted they want advice from me , when purchasing a dingo from over East with out first recieving much required education from those who with out care for the stress this animal must endue with relocation. Flight and unfamiliare territory being placed in the hands of people who simply want a dingo for show and tell with out previous experience.

Welcomed into my house yet with an attitude of arrogance and disregard . realising there are rescue dingoes here.
.am i wrong to be irritated by this blatant disregard and obvious lack of respect ?

no payment is offered for my time nor for information .yet substantial money is paid for the dingo they bring in to this state .

Too often this is happening.and whilst i have no one to fault but myself , I now take responsibility and i take this stand .

Payment is required in the form of a donation if any one requires advice education .
That time will be limited .

Further if one is purchasing a dingo from other
Outlets it is the outlets responsibility to ensure the recipiant of the purchased dingo is well informed with the supplier taking further responsibility to ensure that dingo is being placed in a safe enviroment with knowledgable people .unfortunately to often the attitude is based on numbers deceptively going to good homes and a financial gain .

My time is valuable . the animals in my care are more to me that a dollar gained and a name to fame .
