Early morning run over to the exercise yard with Nowra
A car pulls out and she is in an absolute panic
Now 15 months old , has met many people so for a wild child one can say she has been socialised , albeit she will not interact unless a person visits regularly, and only tentatively does she check that person out
They remain in their crates when people arrive they will not come out .
Arana now over 4 years old refuses to interact and again when people arrive she cant get to her crate quick enough
They can not be removed from their familiar surroundings
They are not tame by any account.
Yet have been hand raised . so this raises the question of human imprinting ? It doesnt change the hard wired wild in our dingo .
Pilbara now 5 years old hand raised from very young, well socialised with constant handling , he has only accepted one other person in his pen and remained calm ( Deonne)
He loves to come out for walks but cannot be removed from the property , he can not cope with strangers or strange noises.
He too remains wild .
In all my years of working with wild dingoes none are or were tame .
So i wonder why they use the word ” tame” when referring to the Fraser Island dingo
He is not tame . he has been conditioned from many years of interference, many years of intrusion and many years of encroachment on and in his natural habitate .
Big difference between tame and conditioned .
Conditioned to not fear humans makes for a very dangerous situation .
